"One of my strangest - inspired by the two
strange Amish-looking dolls I found in an antique shop. The boy doll's
hair was standing straight up and they both looked so terrified, I loved
them. the idea is a kind of Hansel & Gretel tale - bad things are happening
at home, so the two scared kids run away to the potentially worse terrors
of the world, Not exactly 'happily ever after'.
Why do I take such delight in exploring the
darkness? maybe it's like what a lot of the mystery writers say ... i.e.
facing your demons is a healthy thing - it almost exorcises them."
